From Sunday drum circles to world-class sandcastle competitions — here's what's happening on the Key. We update this regularly.
Every Sunday • Sunset • Siesta Beach
Siesta Key's most iconic tradition. Hundreds of people gather on the beach with drums, instruments, and dance. Arrive 30–60 minutes before sunset to grab a spot. Free to attend, free to join. One of the top things to do in all of Sarasota.
Every Sunday • 8am – 1pm • Siesta Key Village
Fresh local produce, baked goods, honey, handmade crafts, and live music. Located in the Village along Ocean Boulevard. A great way to start your Sunday before the beach. Runs year-round, rain or shine.
Thursday – Sunday • Various times • Village bars
SKOB, Daiquiri Deck, Gilligan's, and Beach Club all have live music throughout the week. Thursday through Sunday nights are the most active. No cover at most spots except Beach Club on peak weekends.
Every evening • Sunset • Crescent Beach
A local favorite for watching the sun go down. The rocky outcrop creates beautiful photo opportunities. Less crowded than the main beach. Bring a towel and a drink (non-alcoholic on the beach!). Also great for snorkeling during the day.
Peak season. Art festivals in downtown Sarasota, boat shows, and the Sarasota Film Festival. Snowbird season means the Village is bustling every night. Book dinner reservations early.
Spring break winds down, summer ramps up. Turtle nesting season begins (May). Offshore fishing heats up. Memorial Day weekend is the unofficial start of summer — expect big crowds.
Summer heat, afternoon thunderstorms, and the quietest tourist period. 4th of July fireworks over Sarasota Bay are spectacular. Great time for locals to enjoy the Key without the crowds.
Shoulder season begins. Perfect weather returns. Halloween events in the Village. Siesta Key restaurants offer seasonal specials to attract diners. One of the best months to visit.
Crystal Classic Master Sandcastle Competition — the premier event on Siesta Key. World-class sculptors create massive sand art installations on the beach. Free to watch. Tens of thousands attend. A must-see.
Holiday season kicks in. Siesta Key Village holiday decorations, special dinner menus, and New Year's Eve celebrations at the bars. Snowbird season returns mid-month. Book early.
